EVENT DETAILS!

The WATER BRACELET LAUNCH PARTY is hosted by a student run movement called “Clean Water for Ecuador.” This movement was born out of the recent Social-M Challenge and launched successfully over the past six months at Stanford University.

Come and learn about how Stanford students are helping 30,000 indigenous Ecuadorians living amidst oil-contamination in the Amazon obtain CLEAN DRINKING WATER.

WATER BRACELETS will be handed out at the door. These are handmade Cofan and Secoya bracelets (both indigenous Ecuadorian communities in need of clean water systems). Each bracelet is made from native seeds and natural plant dyes. These bracelets are to be used to spark discussion about the oil disaster in Ecuador, and serve as a signature of participation.

An exclusive screening of CRUDE: The Real Price of Oil will pose the problem at hand, and afterwards, the Clean Water team will present a web 2.0 platform of public participation, where anyone with access to the Internet can support the cause in real ways.

The team will be introduced by San Francisco businessman Richie Goldman, former founder of the Men’s Wearhouse (1,000+ stores, $1.8 billion revenue), current founder of Ethos Alliance. Mr. Goldman will outline his organization’s plans to bring clean water to the affected communities in Ecuador.

This screening and discussion will be the first of three-part series on the plights of indigenous Ecuadorians held at Stanford University. And, although a little late (it was March), this event also would like to support the first annual World Water Month.
